The Blessing Board is able to provide for our community due in large part to our incredible volunteers. We’re always looking for others to join our team and help us furnish homes throughout the Greater Pittsburgh area. We happily accept individuals looking to serve others as well as groups that are looking to provide one-time or ongoing support.
Volunteering at The Blessing Board provides an opportunity to work alongside others who share a passion for making a difference. Join us in our North Showroom, located in Shaler Plaza, or our South Showroom, located in West Mifflin, to support our mission of giving furniture and household goods to families in need.
Daily Operations
We have opportunities for volunteers to serve in many different roles during the week including sorting donations, helping customers in our retail shop, furnishing individuals with home medical equipment, and assisting in the warehouse.
Day of Blessing
The Blessing Board has volunteer opportunities each week to help with a “Day of Blessing” - where a team of volunteers is needed to help our families receive furniture..
As a Group
We welcome church groups of all denominations, fraternities & sororities, schools, small businesses, and corporations. Opportunities can be geared to the individual volunteer groups and are available at each warehouse for groups of 4 to 12.
Sort through donated linens, dishes, and household items to get them ready to give to our families. Job involves measuring sheets and towels and putting them into sets, packing boxes with dishes and glassware, sorting donations and testing lamps and small appliances. Once items are ready for donation volunteers will stock warehouse shelves with items for families to choose from. No experience necessary.
Greet and assist customers shopping in our retail store. Accept payment for sold items including processing credit cards. Must enjoy working with the public and talking about the mission of The Blessing Board. No experience necessary.
Greet and register individuals in need of home medical equipment and properly fit the equipment they receive.
