The Blessing Board

Who We Help

FURNISHING HOMES WITH LOVE

Over 75% of those we have served earn less than $20,000 a year and are struggling to meet basic needs. Their need may be the result of starting over after homelessness, domestic abuse, fire/flood, incarceration, or medical/behavioral health issues. Many are veterans, single parents, or elderly. We do not require paperwork showing proof of need.

Chuck *

On the Road to Recovery

Chuck* was in First Step Recovery who helped him find housing. He reached out to us for furnishings and was thrilled to receive an appointment. Chuck shared with us that he had completed his steps and received schooling to become a counselor. Even before he completed his test, he was offered a job! He knew God was moving in his life then, and just when he thought it couldn't get any better, he received an appointment at The Blessing Board! Chuck needed all the big items - bed, sofa, and dresser. He kept picking items with his 26-year-old son in mind who will be living with him when he is released from jail soon. It is a blessing to assist this father and son on their road to recovery.

Howard

Family Needing Shelter

Howard*, his wife and 5 children lost everything and were struggling to find a shelter. After contacting many different shelters and organizations for help, he received a call from an organization he didn’t even remember contacting saying they were next on the waitlist and an apartment was available. With no furnishings for that apartment, he was told The Blessing Board might be able to help. After submitting an online application, he quickly received a call to schedule an appointment. The beds and other items they received helped to tangibly change their lives. Howard credits God for orchestrating this blessing.

Brianna

Single Mom Starting Over

Brianna* came to TBB after being homeless for several months. While discussing her needs, one of our volunteers expressed sympathy for her circumstances. With tears streaming down her face, Brianna replied, “I don't need sympathy, being homeless drew me back to Jesus. When I realized He was my only hope, things started to fall into place to move forward for me. God placed me in a homeless shelter that was around the corner from the church I grew up in. The church was so welcoming and accepting of me.” Her reaction and words were a welcome reminder that whatever issue or sin in our lives separates us from God, He is our hope and our shelter. He is always there for us and loves us no matter what.
